2024-2025 Basketball Player Evaluations
Player Evaluation Guidelines
St. Bonaventure CYO prospective players will undergo a fair and equitable evaluation to ensure that each player is placed in the proper division. Evaluations are not tryouts, but a means to determine which division/team a player will excel and be happy in. We do not want more advanced players competing against newer players to ensure a safe, healthy, yet competitive basketball season. Once more, these evaluations are simply to place players on teams where they will learn and be comfortable in.
Prerequisite Evaluation Criteria
Prior to the official start of the 2022-2023 season and in order to participate in evaluations, all prospective players must be registered and have paid the registration balance in full.

No parent will be allowed to observe evaluations
All questions, comments, or concerns, should be directed to the AD and/or Assistant AD
If a player is unable to attend evaluations, please advise the AD and/or Assistant AD one week prior to the evaluation date
Evaluations are not try-outs
Team Selection: The team selection process is facilitated by the St Bonaventure Basketball Committee and Coaches at each grade level will determine team rosters. Decisions may not be changed by players or parents, they are final. Not all other grades may have evaluations if the current team is the same or similar from last season. Their designation of American, American 2 or National will be based on last season records.
- St Bonaventure CYO does not accept requests to play on certain teams, for certain coaches, or certain levels beyond the 3rd grade.
- The evaluation process places all players in the level of play that best suits the athlete's skills and abilities (American, American 2, or National) depending on registration numbers and following team make-up guidelines
- Once evaluations are complete, St. Bonaventure coaches will notify parents by email indicating which team your child has been placed on.
- 3rd grade levels do not have evaluations. Teams are evenly divided by the coaches.
- 4th-8th grade levels will hold evaluations to place players in the appropriate league to experience.

Players should bring basketball appropriate shoes, clothing, basketball and water.
